The NAT situation

A brief archaeological dig through accidental network architecture.

NAT 1

operational

Sky Broadband ISP Modem

The one that came with the internet. I didn't ask for it. It just showed up.

NAT 2

operational

Google Nest Wifi (4 Units)

I bought mesh wifi for coverage. I got a second NAT for free. Nobody warned me.

NAT 3

degraded

TP Link Deco BE25

At this point I'm collecting them. This one was an accident. They're all accidents.

Packets from the internet traverse 3 NATs to reach my Jellyfin server.

This is why I use Cloudflare Tunnels.

I did not design this network. It happened to me.

okay fine.

it's a homelab.

are you happy now?
